The pandemic has put a hold on all of our plans this past year, birthday trips, family vacations, and weddings have all been postponed. Corona couples have been struggling to plan their weddings and now it is time to think about the honeymoon! Honeymoons are a time of relaxation and enjoying quality time with your partner. During the stressful times of COVID-19 it is important to plan ahead so your honeymoon goes as smoothly as possible.
Where To Start
When planning your honeymoon, you can start by assessing your comfort level when it comes to traveling during a pandemic. Some people don’t feel comfortable enough to leave their house to go to the grocery store, while others feel safe enough to eat out at restaurants. You may also want to think more about domestic travel instead of overseas. Think about your personal risk factor as well as the people you are around on a day to day basis.
Domestic Travel
More couples have opted for drivable destinations, where they can rent a place and have it to themselves. Another popular feature couples are looking for are destinations with plenty of outdoor activities. After spending months inside because of COVID-19 it is nice to spend some time outside. The US has some beautiful hidden getaways that you may not have known existed.
Of course Florida and Hawaii are always amazing beach getaways, but the Aleutian Islands in Alaska may be the perfect destination for exploring nature and experiencing wildlife. The Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado offers panoramic views as well as sand sports. If you’re looking for something a little more historical, Santa Fe New Mexico is the oldest capitol in the United States and will make you feel like you’re in an entirely different country.
Changing Guidelines
If you do choose to go overseas it is important to monitor the government guidelines because they are constantly changing based on the number of cases. You will want to make sure you’re following all of the quarantine and mask mandates. Some countries may require a negative test or two week quarantine, while other countries may not have any restrictions on travel. You should plan ahead and figure out where you will need to book a reservation in advance. Try to keep your itineraries light and really enjoy everywhere you go!
Be Prepared
Some things to think about when planning to travel are reservations and making sure you book in advance. You should call ahead of time wherever you want to go and find out where you’ll need to make a reservation. Some places might need reservations for the pool, and group excursions may only be doing private tours. There might be limited availability so don’t wait until last minute!
You should also be prepared for temperature checks and mask mandates. Many destinations will want you to have a negative Covid test before arrival. On the bright side you won’t have to deal with big crowds and long lines!
Last but not least, have fun, be safe and enjoy being married!
